Cary North Carolina Real EstateNestled in the “The Triangle,” Cary North Carolina is widely considered to be one of America’s premiere locations to call home. With its close proximity to educational pillars and technology home offices, Cary is certainly as intellectual as it is notable – being recognized as the fifth best small city to call home in Money Magazine’s list of Best Places to Live in 2006. With all things considered, one doesn’t need to wonder as to why Cary North Carolina real estate is in such high demand. From its earliest days as a railroad settlement in 1750, Cary North Carolina has certainly come a long way. First called Bradford’s Ordinary, the small settlement caught the eye of lumberman Frank Page. Page purchased acreage in the settlement and began his development of the land – changing the name to Cary after a prohibitionist he admired named Samuel Fenton Cary. Page committed himself to the town, building a sawmill, general store and a post office. With the neighboring expansion of the railroad, Page’s Cary continued to grow with numerous visitors – thus calling for the construction of a hotel. Soon after, Cary was officially incorporated on April 6, 2007. And rightfully so, Frank Page was elected Cary’s first mayor. After 100 years of prosperity, Cary continued its growth with the introduction of Planned Unit Development zoning. Today, Cary’s population is well over 115,000 and has grown into one of the country’s most sought after cities to call home. Much of today’s population in Cary can be attributed to the city’s role in hosting some of the biggest players in the technology industry. Dozens of tech-companies call Cary home; including the world’s largest privately held software company, the SAS Institute. Cary has even gained the notable nickname “The Technology Town of North Carolina.” And with all the techies running around, it’s no surprise that Cary finds itself no more than 20 minutes away from three of the country’s finest universities – Duke, North Carolina State and the University on North Carolina at Chapel Hill. From the early days of Bradford’s Ordinary, Cary has attracted a multitude of visitors as well as numerous residents. This technology hub has turned into a global epicenter for advancement as well as research and development. Surely it’s a contributing factor as to why Cary North Carolina real estate is in such high demand. Whatever the reason may be, Cary certainly is a location favorable by all. Michael McLaughlin |
